Autumn in Rowan Class

Rowan Class have settled well into their new class with their new teachers.

This half term we have been reading a collection of short stories by Francesca Simon. We read the Horrid Henry stories in which pupils are familiar with. We used these books to explore characters and describe settings. We will begin next half term doing a non-fiction unit working on instructions and explanation texts.

Our Science lessons this half term have been very interesting. Pupils were chosen to take part in a Crime Lab Investigation and had to use their scientific knowledge to help solve a case. Our unit was based on light and shadow and pupils set up investigations to collect evidence to help solve the case. Next half term we will be exploring Earth and Space.

In Topic this half term we have been looking at the Victorian Era and have enjoyed working in the Style of William Morris using various techniques including printing and batik which all the children really enjoyed.

Next half term in Topic we will be focussing on Australia and the Philippines; exploring climate, culture and art.
